Collaborative Law

Daniel A. West, Beltz & West, P.C.’s family law practitioner is trained in collaborative law. Collaborative law is a relatively new and unique way for parties involved in a divorce to settle their differences amicably without resorting to the litigation process.

The process requires each party to be represented by a trained collaborative law attorney and the parties enter into an agreement that they will resolve their differences through the collaborative law model. The model requires that all parties be open and forthcoming regarding all issues affecting the marriage.

The incentive for the parties to settle without going to court includes an agreement between the parties that if they fail to reach an agreement and must resort to the Court system, neither collaborative attorney will continue to represent them in the litigation process. The process has met with great success in Colorado.
